NOVELTY - A nanofiber comprises shellac and graphene. USE - Nanofiber used for article e.g. absorbent material, drug delivery system, wound healing bandages, face mask and filtration membrane e.g. air filtration membrane and water filtration membrane (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The nanofiber has improved mechanical strength and antistatic property, and exhibits antibacterial activity. The preparation method is simple, economical and environmentally-friendly. The nanofiber is uniform, continuous and smooth in nature, devoid of beads or with negligible beads, and biodegradable. The nanofiber has improved flexibility, when compared to shellac based nanofibers devoid of graphene, improved surface area, porosity, permeability which provides for improved exchange of gases, and tensile strength. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a process for preparing the nanofiber, which involves: (a) preparing a dispersion comprising graphene and shellac; and (b) electrospinning the dispersion.
