NOVELTY - Preparing metal ion doped graphene oxide composite film involves providing graphene oxide, and dispersing the graphene oxide in water to obtain a graphene oxide dispersion, providing a porous ceramic carrier, preparing a graphene oxide film on the porous ceramic carrier based on the graphene oxide dispersion, providing metal salt, and dissolving the metal salt in water to obtain a metal salt solution. The graphene oxide film is immersed in the metal salt solution for a predetermined time to obtain product. USE - Method for preparing metal ion doped graphene oxide composite film used for separation of olefins and alkanes, where the alkene includes ethylene and propylene and the alkane includes ethane and propane (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method has high gas flux and low energy consumption, separates olefin and alkane, in coast-effective manner.
