NOVELTY - A lithium-ion battery comprises a silicon anode containing an essentially pure amorphous porous silicon film deposited onto a current collector, and containing several columnar structures, an electrolyte layer containing one or more solid components, and a cathode layer. USE - Lithium-ion battery. Uses include but are not limited to personal computer, video camera, portable telephone, and electric vehicles. ADVANTAGE - The lithium-ion battery has improved battery performance, excellent safety and lithium-ion host ability, increased cycle life, and high elastic modulus.
