NOVELTY - Photovoltaic cell comprises a two-dimensional graphene heterostructure. USE - The two dimensional graphene heterostructure is useful in a photovoltaic cell or device (claimed). The photovoltaic cell is useful in a light harvesting device. ADVANTAGE - The flexible photovoltaic cell has higher energy conversion efficiency and greater longevity, and can be manufactured in a cost-effective manner. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for: (1) a heterostructure comprising a first layer, which comprises graphene or modified graphene (e.g. doped graphene), one or more layers comprising tungsten disulfide, and a second layer which comprises graphene or modified graphene (e.g. doped graphene), where the layers are stacked sequentially to form a laminate structure and the or each layer of tungsten disulfide is situated between the first and the second graphene layer; and (2) making the heterostructure, comprising suspending a transition metal dichalcogenide (e.g. tungsten disulfide) in a liquid, and depositing the transition metal dichalcogenide onto a surface to form a thin film.
