NOVELTY - Preparation of modified glassy carbon electrode involves adding attapulgite to 2-4 M hydrochloric acid solution, stirring, filtering, washing with water, grinding, sieving to obtain an acid-modified attapulgite, mixing 1-2 mg/mL acid-modified attapulgite and 0.5 mg/mL nitrogen-doped graphene in a mass ratio of 2-4:1, dissolving in N,N-dimethylformamide and dispersing to obtain attapulgite/nitrogen-doped graphene dispersion, coating dispersion onto the surface of the polished glassy carbon electrode, and drying. USE - Preparation of modified glassy carbon electrode used for synchronous detection of catechol and hydroquinone (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method is simple, economical and environmentally-friendly. The modified glassy carbon electrode has excellent reproducibility, high stability and short response time. The minimum detection limits for catechol and hydroquinone are 0.13 mu mol/L and 0.8 mu mol/L, respectively. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for usage method of modified glassy carbon electrode, which involves placing modified electrode in the solution containing catechol and hydroquinone, testing, adjusting pH to 3-6, preferably 3-4, detecting catechol and hydroquinone by electrochemical response signal using cyclic voltammetry or differential pulse voltammetry, and calculating linear relationship and concentration of catechol and hydroquinone.
