NOVELTY - An electrocatalyst comprises graphene as carrier, platinum as active ingredient, and cerium oxide as auxiliary ingredient. The platinum in the catalyst is present at 20 mass%. The mol ratio of platinum to cerium is 1:1-2.5:1. USE - Electrocatalyst for direct alcohol fuel cells. ADVANTAGE - The electrocatalyst can be prepared with energy-saving, quick and simple method; and has high electrocatalysis activity on the electric electrochemical oxidation of methanol. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for preparation of electrocatalyst comprising: (A) ultrasonic dispersing the nanometer piece of graphite oxide in ethylene glycol, adding chloroplatinic acid solution, aqueous solution of cerium ammonium nitrate and aqueous solution of sodium acetate, and fully mixing the solutions, where the graphite oxide in the mixture is present at 0.6-1.1 g/L, the chloroplatinic acid solution is present at 0.008-0.0045 mol/L, the mol ratio of chloroplatinic acid to cerium ammonium nitrate is 1:1-2.5:1, the aqueous solution of sodium acetate is present at 0.01-0.025 mol/L; and (B) transferring the mixture to the microwave water hot reaction kettle, microwave heating to react for 5-10 minutes, filtering, washing and drying to obtain the electrocatalyst.
