NOVELTY - Apparatus comprises: a first electrode (102) that includes graphite; a second electrode (104); a container (108) containing an electrolyte (106), in which the first and second electrodes are immersed in the electrolyte; a power supply to supply bias voltages across the first and second electrodes to cause intercalation of graphite and exfoliation of graphene; and a filtration module to separate the graphene from un-exfoliated graphite particles and collect the graphene. USE - The apparatus is useful for producing at least one of graphene or graphene oxide (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The apparatus provides high-quality graphene and graphene oxide in a simple, continuous and fast manner at a low cost, using electrochemical exfoliation. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for producing graphene, comprising: immersing the first and second electrodes in the electrolyte; applying a first voltage across the first and second electrodes to cause intercalation of the graphite to form a graphite intercalation compound; applying a second voltage across the first and second electrodes to exfoliate the graphite intercalation compound to produce at least one of graphene or graphene oxide; filtering the electrolyte using a first filter that blocks un-exfoliated graphite particles and allows the graphene or graphene oxide to pass through; and filtering the electrolyte using a second filter to collect the graphene or graphene oxide.
