▎ 摘 要
NOVELTY - Method for embedding sulfur into conductive carbon, involves (a) dissolving elemental sulfur in liquid ammonia to obtain a sulfur-ammonia solution, (b) soaking conductive carbon in the sulfur-ammonia solution to embed the conductive carbon with at least a portion of the dissolved sulfur, and (c) recovering the sulfur-embedded conductive carbon; or soaking conductive carbon in a sulfur-ammonia solution to embed the conductive carbon with at least a portion of the dissolved sulfur. USE - The method is useful for embedding sulfur into conductive carbon as a sulfur cathode of a metal-sulfur battery including a lithium- sulfur battery, and for operating a battery, and an apparatus (all claimed) for storing and discharging energy, and as a sulfur cathode material for manufacture a metal-sulfur battery, such as a lithium-sulfur battery. ADVANTAGE - The method is environmentally-friendly, minimizes formation of insoluble polysulphides, when charging and discharging battery, enhances solubility of sulfur in liquid ammonia, and prolongs life of battery. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) (1) a sulfur-embedded conductive carbon; (2) (2) a metal-sulfur battery; (3) (3) a lithium-sulfur battery; (4) (4) a metal-sulfur or lithium-sulfur battery; (5) (5) a method for operating a battery; and (6) (6) an apparatus.
