NOVELTY - The apparatus has a condenser which has a coolant side and a condensing side. A substrate (101) is formed on the coolant side or the condensing side. The layers of graphene (102) are formed on the substrate. The metal substrate has nickel, a nickel alloy, copper, a copper alloy, or a combination, and the substrate has nickel or a nickel alloy. The substrate is on a surface of the coolant side, a surface of the condensing side, or the surfaces of both the condensing side and coolant side. The graphene is applied to the substrate using chemical vapor deposition (CVD), thin film physical vapor deposition (PVD), or deposition of hydrogenated amorphous carbon. USE - Condensing apparatus used for petrochemical industry. ADVANTAGE - Reduces biofouling by reducing bacterial adhesion by 50% or more. Exhibits superior anticorrosion properties in harsh steam environments by the nickel-graphene interfaces.
