▎ 摘  要

NOVELTY - A composite material comprises a thermoset polymer reinforced with natural fiber. USE - Composite material used for multilayer armor for protecting against rifle fire with 7.62 mm or 5.56 mm caliber ammunition (claimed) in personal vest or military vehicle. ADVANTAGE - The composite material prevents against rifle shots with high impact ammunition and captures ceramic and projectile fragments resulting from the frontal impact. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (i) manufacture of the composite material, which involves accommodating layers of Calotropis gigantea fibers, in a continuous and aligned, corresponding to the desired proportion of 40 vol.% within a suitable metallic mold and adding epoxy resin and a fluid, and covering the mold; (ii) ceramic material, which has thicknesses of 7, 8, 9 and 10 mm, and is prepared by using alumina doped with niobium oxide in the amount of 4 %mass with hexagonal geometry, weighing alumina, niobium and polyethylene glycol powders, in liquid phase, and placing in an alumina ball mill for 12 hours and leaving still for 48 hours in an oven at 80 degrees C for drying; (iii) manufacture of the ceramic, which involves performing maceration and sieving to obtain the powder and pressing under pressure of 30 MPa, and seiving green components to the oven to be sintered; and (iv) multilayer armor, in which the composite plate is glued with polyurethane adhesive to a ceramic front layer, responsible for eroding the projectile and attenuating its impact.
