▎ 摘 要
NOVELTY - The waveguide has an electro-optical structure formed with a layer of optical material (208) sandwiched by a pair of electrodes (202, 210), where each electrode is provided with a non-metallic portions (212, 216) comprising graphene, and a layer of optical material is arranged to undergo electro-optic activity when subjected to voltage bias across the pair of electrodes. A cladding layer (206) is formed adjacent to an electro-optical structure. The electro-optic activity comprises change in an electro-optic coefficient of the layer of optical material. USE - Electro-optic waveguide for photonic devices to guide electromagnetic waves in an optical spectrum. Uses include but are not limited to lasers, LEDs, modulators and photodetectors. ADVANTAGE - The waveguide ensures that a photonic device structure can have high-performance electro-optic (EO) polymer materials that possess strong, ultrafast EO effects, silicon modulators based on EO polymer showing low driving voltages and large bandwidths.
