ADVANTAGE - The carbon film improves corrosion resistance, electroconductivity and contact property, and reduces cost. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) a method for forming a carbon film, which involves ejecting plasma of a raw material gas containing a hydrocarbon gas onto a surface to be treated in an environment near atmospheric pressure; and (2) a coating member, which comprises a base material and the carbon film, which covers the surface of the base material.
