NOVELTY - Uniform size graphene oxide preparation involves mixing 2-4 g graphite powder and 3-6 g potassium dithionate and 3-6 g phosphorus pentoxide in 12-24 ml concentrated sulfuric acid in a reaction system at 80 degrees C in water bath for 4-6 hours to form a deep blue solution. The formed deep blue solution is cooled, suction filtered, and dried to give pre-oxidized graphite. The obtained pre-oxidized graphite is placed in a three necked flask under ice-cooling conditions with 150-300 ml concentrated sulfuric acid solution and 25-50 g potassium permanganate with stirring for 2-4 hours. USE - Method for preparing uniform size graphene oxide (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method prepares the graphene oxide in a simple manner with high oxidation degree. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Uniform size graphene oxide preparation involves mixing 2-4 g graphite powder and 3-6 g potassium dithionate and 3-6 g phosphorus pentoxide in 12-24 ml concentrated sulfuric acid in a reaction system at 80 degrees C in water bath for 4-6 hours to form a deep blue solution. The formed deep blue solution is cooled, suction filtered, and dried to give pre-oxidized graphite. The obtained pre-oxidized graphite is placed in a three necked flask under ice-cooling conditions with 150-300 ml concentrated sulfuric acid solution and 25-50 g potassium permanganate with stirring for 2-4 hours. The three-necked flask is warmed to 35-40 degrees C in an oil bath with stirring for 0.5-2 hours, where the resulting mixture is filtered and washed with deionized water to give graphene oxide. The prepared graphene oxide is placed in ice bath with 50-100 ml concentrated sulfuric acid solution and 8-16 g potassium permanganate with stirring for 1-2 hours. The three-necked flask is heated at 40 degrees C with stirring for 1-2 hours, and then mixed with 30 wt.% hydrogen peroxide and deionized water with stirring for 6-8 hours. The formed reaction system is cooled, filtered to obtain the uniform size graphene oxide.
