NOVELTY - Metallic bipolar plate comprises an electrically conductive graphene-like coating. USE - The metallic bipolar plate is useful in an electrochemical cell (claimed) e.g. low- and high temperature polymer electrolyte fuel cells/electrolyzers. ADVANTAGE - The metallic bipolar plate can be produced in cost-efficient manner, and is stable and resistant to corrosion. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for producing the bipolar plate, comprising applying a stable suspension comprising graphene oxide on the metallic bipolar plate to form at least one graphene oxide layer, and subjecting the coated graphene oxide layer or the deposited graphene oxide layer to a reduction step to obtain at least partially reduced, electrically conductive graphene-like coating.
