NOVELTY - Nano graphene platelet-based conductive ink (I) that is printable, comprises nano graphene platelets (II), where each of the platelets comprises a graphene sheet or multiple graphene sheets and (II) having a thickness not greater than 100 nm, and a liquid medium in which (II) are dispersed, where (II) occupy a proportion of at least 0.001 vol.% based on the total ink volume. USE - (I) is useful in the manufacture of conducting elements in printed circuits and sensor electrodes. (I) is useful for emerging applications such as displays, backplanes, radio frequency identification, photovoltaics, lighting, disposable electronics and memory sensors as well as traditional thick film applications in which screen printing is used in the creation of printed circuit boards, automobile heaters, electromagnetic interference shielding and membrane switches. ADVANTAGE - (I), after printing onto a solid substrate to form a solid component, provides a thermal conductivity of at least 10 (preferably at least 200) W/(mK). The conductive additives are much less expensive than carbon nanotubes. (I) utilizes a conventional, low-cost print head. The additives and the resulting printed elements are highly conductive, electrically and/or thermally. The additives can be readily dispersed in a wide range of liquid mediums and do not form sediment. (I) can contain a high conductive additive content so that a desired amount or thickness of conductive elements can be dispersed and deposited onto a substrate in one pass or few passes (to avoid or reduce the need for repeated printing passes or overwrites).
