NOVELTY - The system has multiple roofing shingles (100) that are provided on a roofing substrate. The roofing shingle of multiple roofing shingles comprises a substrate (102). The substrate includes a top surface. An asphalt filled coating on the top surface of the substrate. The asphalt filled coating includes the top surface. Multiple graphene particles covers portion of the top surface of the asphalt filled coating. The substrate comprises a fiberglass, polyester or any combination. Multiple graphene particles covers 50% of the top surface of the asphalt filled coating. The total solar reflectance is measured according to ASTM C1549. USE - Roofing system for building. ADVANTAGE - The graphene improves a total solar reflectance (TSR) of the roofing shingle. The graphene reduces solar heat absorption of the roofing shingle. The graphene improves an UV resistance of the roofing shingle. The graphene is an oxygen barrier layer that improves long-term aging of the roofing shingle by reducing oxygen diffusion into an asphalt-containing layer.
