NOVELTY - A battery comprises a cathode, an anode positioned opposite the cathode and including a hybrid artificial solid-electrolyte interphase (A-SEI) layer encapsulating the anode, where the hybrid A-SEI layer comprises an active component (C1), an active component (C2) arranged on the active component (C1), and carbon-containing aggregates interwoven throughout the active components (C1) and (2) and configured to inhibit growth of lithium dendritic structures from the anode towards the cathode, and a separator positioned between the anode and the cathode. USE - Battery such as lithium-ion battery, lithium-sulfur battery and lithium-metal battery. Uses include but are not limited to electric vehicle, hybrid electric vehicle, modern portable electronic devices such as laptop computers and smartphones, and microelectonic devices. ADVANTAGE - The battery has improved cycle life characteristics.
