NOVELTY - Carbon-coated alumina ceramic material comprises alumina particles whose surface is coated with a carbon layer, where the particle size of the carbon-coated alumina ceramic material is 11 nm to 124 mum, and the size of the coated alumina particles is 10 nm to 120 mum, and the average thickness of the carbon layer is 1 nm to 2 mum, and the carbon layer comprises continuous films, discontinuous films or closely-arranged carbon particles, and the coverage ratio of the carbon layer to the surface of the alumina particles is 50-100%, and the carbon-to-alumina mass ratio in the carbon-coated alumina ceramic material is (0.002-0.6): 1. USE - The carbon-coated alumina ceramic material is useful as battery anode material additive, diaphragm coating material additive or diaphragm coating material and lithium-ion battery (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The carbon-coated alumina ceramic material improves the safety performance of the lithium-ion battery. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a method for preparing the carbon-coated alumina ceramic material, involving uniformly mixing the alumina powder and carbon source powder, and heating in an inert atmosphere of 300-1300degrees Celsius.
