NOVELTY - A graphene quantum dot is used as a coloring agent for biological cell imaging. USE - The graphene quantum dot is used as a coloring agent for biological cell imaging, preparing graphene quantum dot-stabilized gold nanoparticles for degradation of p-nitrophenol and catalytic hydrogen production of tetrahydroxydiboride (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The graphene quantum dots have no added reducing agent and can quickly reduce the trivalent gold in chloroauric acid to elemental gold nanoparticles. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for preparation of graphene quantum dot-stabilized gold nanoparticles comprising mixing glucose with water, hydrothermal reacting to obtain graphene quantum dot solution, adding to aqueous solution of chloroauric acid, and stirring.
