NOVELTY - Preparing high barrier graphene oxide-polyethylene nano-composite film comprises dispersing modified Hummer graphene oxide distilled water and ultrasonically stirring, adding octadecylamine ethanol mixture, stirring, washing obtained product with water-ethanol mixture, vacuum-drying, and purifying to obtain octadecylamine-graphene oxide (ODA-GO); dispersing ODA-GO in xylene, heating, dissolving high-density polyethylene (HDPE) particles in above solution to obtain hot ODA-GO/HDPE mixed solution; immersing ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene film in ODA-GO/HDPE solution, and oven drying. USE - The method is useful for preparing high barrier graphene oxide-polyethylene nano-composite film (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The nano-composite film has high safety, reduced (49%) oxygen penetrate coefficient, is environmentally-friendly, has high oxygen barrier property, thus satisfies the packaging of variety of food and medicine. The preparation is simple and economical. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparing high barrier graphene oxide-polyethylene nano-composite film comprises (i) dispersing 0.1-0.3 g modified Hummer graphene oxide in 80-120 ml distilled water and ultrasonically stirring for 1-2 hours, adding 1-2 g octadecylamine ethanol mixture into graphene oxide suspension and stirring at room temperature for 24-30 hours, repeatedly washing the obtained product with water-ethanol mixture, then vacuum-drying, and purifying at 55-65 degrees C to obtain octadecylamine-graphene oxide (ODA-GO); (ii) ultrasonically dispersing ODA-GO in 150-200 ml xylene and heating to 135-145 degrees C, then dissolving 15-25 mg high-density polyethylene (HDPE)particles in the above solution with continuous stirring, to obtain hot ODA-GO/HDPE mixed solution; (iii) washing the ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene film (UHMWPE) with xylene, immersing the UHMWPE in ODA-GO/HDPE mixed solution, then oven drying for 3-5 minutes, repeating the step, and staking the layers until desired number of layers are obtained.
