NOVELTY - Preparation of hydrophobic waste leather collagen powder/polylactic acid composite material involves mixing 1-100 pts. wt. hydrophobic waste leather collagen powder, 1-100 pts. wt. polylactic acid, 1-20 pts. wt. surface-modified graphene oxide, 0-10 pts. wt. compatibilizer and 0-10 pts. wt. plasticizer for 5-20 minutes, drying at 30-60 degrees C for 8-12 hours, melt-blending dried material at 170-220 degrees C for 5-15 minutes, extruding, and granulating. USE - Preparation of hydrophobic waste leather collagen powder/polylactic acid composite material (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method enables preparation of degradable hydrophobic waste leather collagen powder/polylactic acid composite material having excellent thermoplastic processing characteristics and mechanical property, by environmentally-friendly process. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparation of hydrophobic waste leather collagen powder/polylactic acid composite material involves mixing 1-100 pts. wt. hydrophobic waste leather collagen powder, 1-100 pts. wt. polylactic acid, 1-20 pts. wt. surface-modified graphene oxide, 0-10 pts. wt. compatibilizer and 0-10 pts. wt. plasticizer for 5-20 minutes, drying at 30-60 degrees C for 8-12 hours, melt-blending dried material at 170-220 degrees C for 5-15 minutes, extruding, and granulating. The surface-modified graphene oxide is prepared by mixing 100 pts. wt. graphene oxide, 1-6 pts. wt. sodium hydroxide, 1-10 pts. wt. sodium chloroacetate and 100-300 pts. wt. water, heating at 30-60 degrees C for 1-3 hours, filtering the reaction mixture, washing the solid material with water, and drying at 60-80 degrees C for 6-12 hours. The hydrophobic waste leather collagen powder is prepared by mixing 100 pts. wt. waste leather collagen powder and 100-200 pts. wt. water, adding glutaraldehyde in an amount of 1-9 wt.% with respect to waste leather collagen powder, stirring, adding sodium bicarbonate in an amount of 1-1.5 wt.% with respect to waste leather collagen powder, adjusting pH of resultant mixture to 8, centrifuging, filtering, washing obtained solid and drying.
