NOVELTY - Cuprous oxide hybrid graphene flame retardant smoke inhibiting agent is claimed. The inhibiting agent is obtained by uniformly dispersing cuprous oxide on graphene surface by covalent bonding force. USE - The inhibiting agent is useful in polymer materials. ADVANTAGE - The inhibiting agent has physical barrier effect of graphene sheets and catalytic carbonization and smoke suppression effects of cuprous oxide are integrated, simple preparation method, low cost, environmentally friendly, effectively improves flame retardant and smoke inhibiting properties of polymers and mechanical properties. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for preparing cuprous oxide hybrid graphene flame retardant smoke inhibiting agent comprising (i) mixing oxidized graphene and deionized water into oxidized graphene with concentration of 0.5-1.5 mg/ml and ultrasonic dispersing to obtain oxidized graphene suspension, and (ii) adding divalent copper salt into oxidized graphene suspension with concentration of 0.02-0.1 M, stirring and dissolving, sonicating for 5-15 minutes, then adding precipitant and reducing agent to obtain mixture, treating the mixture by one-step coprecipitation to obtain final product, where the precipitating agent is sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide, the reducing agent is hydrazine hydrate or ascorbic acid, and the molar ratio of copper, precipitating agent and reducing agent in the mixture is 1:2-3:0.5-1.5.
