NOVELTY - Preparing graphene-polyvinyl alcohol composite film, comprises: preparing a solution of polyvinyl alcohol in a polar solvent; preparing a solution of functionalized graphene in a solvent; contacting the polyvinyl alcohol solution with the solution of functionalized graphene to obtain a mixture; and contacting the obtained mixture with a substrate to form the graphene-polyvinyl alcohol composite film on a substrate, where the functionalized graphene has a flake size at most 3 mu m. USE - The process is useful for preparing graphene-polyvinyl alcohol composite film, which is useful in an article (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The process provides graphene-polyvinyl alcohol composite film, which: has thickness of 35-120 mu m, and percentage transmittance of 0-20 for light of 300-450 nm (claimed); causes a drastic decrease in the temperature, these films could be utilized for coolant windows for that could have an effect in reducing power consumption in air-conditioning; and could be flexible to design in various manners for protecting the UV light. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a graphene-polyvinyl alcohol composite film comprising functionalized graphene and polyvinyl alcohol.
