NOVELTY - A fluorinated graphene oxide has trifluorocarbon content below minimum limit of detection when measured using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, nitrogen content of 0.5 %mass or less and boron content of 0.5 %mass or less. USE - Fluorinated graphene oxide used as super capacitor electrode, electrolytic membrane for fuel cells, lithium ion battery electrode, separation membrane, solid lubricant, insulator, semiconductor, carbon molecular sieve, compound product, filler, sensor, catalyst, biomedical material, optoelectronic material, photonic device and flexible device. ADVANTAGE - The fluorinated graphene oxide has high thermal stability and has controlled carbon/oxygen/fluorine composition. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for manufacture of the fluorinated graphene oxide, which involves reacting graphene oxide, and sulfur tetrafluoride and/or hydrogen fluoride at 20-200 degrees C.
