NOVELTY - Dermal patch system (1000) has an applicator (2000) including a needle configured to puncture a subject's skin to draw a physiological sample. Latch is configured to maintain a locked position to inhibit activation of the needle when the needle is in an un-deployed position. Dermal patch (1002) is configured for coupling to the applicator such that upon coupling of the applicator to the dermal patch such that the latch is released to actuate the needle to puncture the skin for drawing a physiological sample. USE - Dermal patch system for storage of physiological sample and detection of analyte in physiological sample. ADVANTAGE - The system significantly enhances the sensitivity/specificity for the detection of a variety of analytes (e.g., biomarkers).
