NOVELTY - Rechargeable manganese ion battery comprises anode, cathode, separator arranged between the anode and the cathode, and electrolyte disposed between the separator and the anode and between the separator and the cathode, where the cathode includes cathode active material, the cathode active material includes manganese element, the electrolyte includes soluble manganese salt, the anode includes anode active material, and the anode active material includes a material capable of absorbing and releasing manganese ions. USE - The rechargeable manganese ion battery is useful for storing renewable clean energy including wind energy, solar energy and tidal energy. ADVANTAGE - The rechargeable manganese ion battery adopts reversible insertion or extraction of manganese ions in the lattice of various anode materials, and the energy storage mechanism of manganese-based cathode materials for oxidation or reduction of manganese ions on the cathode surface at the same time, and thus it has high capacity, rechargeability and long cycle life.
