NOVELTY - Biodegradable composite material comprises plant fiber coated with graphene oxide, and is convertible at least into sheets, cones and tubes, where the ratio of the plant fiber and the graphene oxide is (1:0.0125)-(1:0.875). USE - The material is used as a dielectric material for capacitors, for removal of organic contents from a solvent, and used as a sorbent for water treatment. ADVANTAGE - The material has low density and high flexibility, and is biodegradable and cost-effective. The method utilizes agricultural waste products such as floral stem of the banana plant for producing the material. The method has simple approach to produce high production of the material. The material is cheap and non-toxic, and reduces production time. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method of producing the material, comprising (a) extracting the plant fiber from a floral stem of a banana plant, (b) dispersing the plant fiber in an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide for 2-3 hours, where the weight ratio of the plant fiber and the sodium hydroxide is (1:1.3)-(1:1.5), (c) dispersing the graphene oxide in the mixture of the plant fiber and sodium hydroxide, (d) treating solution of the plant fiber and graphene oxide at a pressure of 20-40 psi, and at 70-90 degrees C for about 4-6 hours to obtain a pulp-like paste, (e) diluting the pulp-like paste by adding water, and (f) subjecting the diluted pulp-like paste to a centrifugation technique to obtain the material.
