NOVELTY - An ionic polymer comprises a repeating unit which is obtained by functional groups-containing compound (I) and metal bis(halosulfonyl)imide compound (II). USE - Ionic polymer used in polymer composition used as solid polymer electrolyte composition for forming electrolyte for electrode of electrochemical cell for electrochemical accumulator such as lithium battery, lithium-ion battery, sodium battery, sodium-ion battery, magnesium battery and magnesium-ion battery (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The ionic polymer has excellent electrochemical stability. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An ionic polymer comprises a repeating unit which is obtained by functional groups-containing compound of formula (I) and metal bis(halosulfonyl)imide compound of formula (II). A = optionally substituted organic group chosen from 1-10C linear or branched alkylene, 1-10C linear or branched alkyleneoxy, 1-10C alkylene, linear or branched poly(1-10C alkyleneoxy) 1-10C alkylene, linear or branched polyether or a linear or branched polyester; X1,X2 = functional groups chosen from hydroxy, thio or amido, preferably hydroxy or amido; X3,X4 = halo chosen from F, Cl, Br and I, Cl;and M(power(n+)) = alkali metal ion or alkaline-earth metal ion chosen from Na+, K+, Li+, Ca2+ and Mg2+. INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) a polymer composition, which comprises the ionic polymer and additional component or additive chosen from ionic conductors, inorganic particles, glass particles, ceramic particles, and a filler comprising titanium dioxide, alumina and silicon dioxide particles or nanoparticles; (2) a solid polymer electrolyte composition, which comprises a polymer composition, a salt which is an ionic salt chosen from a lithium salt, a sodium salt, a potassium salt, a calcium salt and a magnesium salt, preferably a lithium salt chosen from lithium hexafluorophosphate, lithium bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide, lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide, lithium 2-trifluoromethyl-4,5-dicyanoimidazolate, lithium 4,5-dicyano-1,2,3-triazolate, lithium bis(pentafluoroethylsulfonyl)imide, lithium tetrafluoroborate, lithium bis(oxalato)borate, lithium nitrate, lithium chloride, lithium bromide, lithium fluoride, lithium perchlorate, lithium hexafluoroarsenate, lithium trifluoromethanesulfonate, lithium fluoroalkylphosphate, lithium tetrakis(trifluoroacetoxy)borate, and lithium bis(1,2-benzenediolato(2-)-O,O')borate, and additional component or additive; (3) a solid polymer electrolyte, which comprises the solid polymer electrolyte composition in which the polymer is optionally crosslinked; (4) an electrode material, which comprises an electrochemically active material in the form of particles and is chosen from metal oxides, lithium metal oxides, metal phosphates, lithium metal phosphates, titanates and lithium titanates, where the metal of the electrochemically active material is chosen from titanium, iron, magnesium, manganese, vanadium, nickel, cobalt, and aluminum, a polymer composition as a binder, electronically conductive material chosen from carbon black, acetylene black, graphite, graphene, carbon fibers, carbon nanofibers, and carbon nanotubes, preferably acetylene black, and additional component or additive, where the electrode material is a positive electrode material or a negative electrode material, preferably a negative electrode material and the electrochemically active material is a lithium titanate, preferably carbon-coated lithium titanate; (5) an electrode, which comprises an electrode material on a current collector; (6) an electrochemical cell, which comprises a negative electrode, a positive electrode and an electrolyte, where at least one of the negative electrode, the positive electrode and the electrolyte comprises the polymer composition, or the electrolyte is a solid polymer electrolyte; (7) an electrochemical accumulator, which comprises the electrochemical cell, where the electrochemical accumulator is a battery chosen from the lithium battery, a lithium-ion battery, a sodium battery, a sodium-ion battery, a magnesium battery and a magnesium-ion battery, preferably a lithium or a lithium-ion battery; and (8) preparation of the polymer composition, which involves preparing metal bis(halosulfonyl)imide, and reacting compound (I) with metal bis(halosulfonyl)imide in the presence of a solvent chosen from N,N-dimethylformamide, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone, dimethylacetamide, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, acetonitrile, and tetrahydrofuran, preferably N,N-dimethylformamide.
