NOVELTY - Preparing high-rate polycrystalline composite particle lithium battery cathode active material comprises e.g. (i) selecting petroleum coke, asphalt coke, needle coke and/or artificial graphite powder as raw material and crushing until the particle is less than 5 mm; (ii) drying the raw material whose grain is less than 5mm until the moisture content is less than 1 %; (iii) grinding the dried raw material to the middle grain diameter in the range of 12-15 mu m; (iv) premixing the fine powder obtained and the binder and conductive agent with median particle diameter less than 5 m according to a certain proportion at normal temperature; (v) compounding and granulating the pre-mixed material at 300-650 degrees C; (vi) mixing the composite granulated material with the dipping agent uniformly; and (vii) separating the soaked material by a centrifuge to obtain solvent and entering into the roller furnace for high temperature processing under the condition of isolating air. USE - The method is useful for preparing high-rate polycrystalline composite particle lithium battery cathode active material. ADVANTAGE - The method improves the rate performance, cycle life and first charge-discharge efficacy of lithium battery cathode materials.
