▎ 摘 要
NOVELTY - A ceramic composite material comprises a graphene-reinforced ceramic material. USE - As graphene-reinforced ceramic material (claimed), useful in aerospace vehicle applications, medical device applications, structural and building applications, electronics applications, and energy application. ADVANTAGE - The graphene-ceramic composites exhibit significantly enhanced toughness of starting ceramic materials, and thus broadening their use in materials and processes that require high temperatures (greater than 1000 degrees C). The graphene present within grain boundaries helps to prevent cracks in the composite materials from changing their propagation paths in two-dimensional space and forces cracks to propagate in three-dimensional space, thus greatly strengthening the composite. Such an unexpected fracture resistance mechanism has not previously been reported in ceramic matrix composites. The methods produce graphene-ceramic composites exhibiting significantly enhanced toughness compared to starting ceramic materials, and thus broaden their use in materials and processes that require high temperatures. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for making the ceramic composite material involving: combining graphene with a ceramic material; and densifying the combination to produce a graphene-reinforced ceramic material.
