▎ 摘 要

NOVELTY - Generating a carbon product comprising at least one carbon atom (C1+ product) using a carbon-containing material comprises: (a) providing an electrochemical system comprising (i) a cathode unit comprising a first compartment; a second compartment, a cathode, and a membrane comprising a plurality of pores, where the pores is the first compartment in fluid communication with the second compartment and (ii) an anode unit comprising an anode; (b) directing an electrolyte solution comprising the carbon-containing material into the first compartment to bring the electrolyte solution into contact with the cathode; (c) reducing the carbon-containing material in the electrolyte solution while a voltage is applied between the cathode and the anode to generate the C1+ product, which C1+ product is directed through the pores to the second compartment; and (d) recovering the C1+ product from the second compartment of the electrochemical system. USE - The method is useful for generating carbon product comprising at least one carbon atom (C1+ product) using a carbon-containing material. ADVANTAGE - The method: recirculate flows intended to assist in reduction of boundary layers and improve mass transport, this configuration allows high circulating concentration of reduced carbon products, if desired, which may improve the reduced carbon products extraction and/or offer other benefits; and utilizes comprise micro- or nanostructured membranes for separation and catalytic processes, and electrochemical reduction systems that to renewable energy sources to generate carbon product comprising carbon atoms (C1+ product), e.g. fuel and this may be performed at substantially low (or nearly zero) net or negative carbon emissions.
