NOVELTY - Preparing a rutile titanium dioxide/graphene film involves: (S1) adding 20 ml tetrabutyl titanate to 15 ml absolute ethanol and stirring for 1 hour to form solution A; (S2) adding 1.8 ml acetylacetone and 2 ml deionized water to 15 ml absolute ethanol and stirring for 1 hour to form solution B; (S3) slowly injecting solution B into solution A, stirring at room temperature for 1 hour, and aging in an oven at 60 degrees C to obtain a titanium dioxide (TiO2) sol; and (S4) on copper (Cu) substrate/graphene film layer, spin-coating 4 layers of TiO2 sol repeatedly at a rotation speed of 4000 revolutions per minute (rpm) for 15 s; each spin-coat layer is dried in an oven at 110 degrees C for 15 minutes; placing sample in an argon (Ar) gas atmosphere with a flow rate of 200 standard cubic centimeters per minute (sccm) and annealing at 800-900 degrees C for 120 minutes. USE - The method is useful for preparing a rutile titanium dioxide/graphene film (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method effectively improves the photocatalytic activity of the TiO2 film on a methylene blue (MB) dye solution.
