NOVELTY - The assembly (172) has a target body (174) including a production chamber and a beam cavity that is located adjacent to the production chamber. The production chamber holds target material. The beam cavity receives particle beam that is incident on the production chamber. A target sheet is positioned to separate the beam cavity and the production chamber. The target sheet includes a side that is exposed to the production chamber such that the target sheet is in contact with the target material during isotope production. The target sheet comprises graphene. USE - Target assembly for an isotope production system (claimed) in medical therapy, imaging and research applications. ADVANTAGE - The assembly ensures that interior walls provide sufficient support for a target and front sheets and intimately engage the target and front sheets, so that thermal energy is transferred from the target and the front sheets to the interior walls and a peripheral region of the grid section or the body section. The grid section supports the target sheet to reduce likelihood of rupture from elevated pressure in the production chamber.
