NOVELTY - A composition comprises graphene platelets, at least one aqueous or polar solvent, and a dispersant chosen from carboxyl containing interpolymers (i), derivatized polycarboxylate dispersant (ii), imide polymers (I) comprising polymer chain containing at least one fused aromatic imide pendant group, cycloaliphatic polyurethane resins (iv) which is obtained by reacting a polyisocyanate comprising a diisocyanate (II) with an active-hydrogen containing compound to form a urethane polymer or prepolymer, water-dispersible or soluble dihydrocarbyl dithiophosphoric acid (vi) or its salt (III), cationic or amphoteric homopolymer or copolymer (vii) containing dialkyl diallyl quaternary ammonium salt, methacrylamide alkyl quaternary ammonium salt, acrylic acid and acrylamide. The polyurethane polymer has a number average molecular weight of 2000-50000 g/mol and containing 10-180 mequivalents of acid groups for each 100 g polyurethane. USE - Composition. Uses include but are not limited to additive for polymers, such as polyethylene and polystyrene, electrode additive for lithium accumulators used in electrical/electronic application, manufacture of supercapacitors, thermal grease, ink and coating. ADVANTAGE - The composition having excellent physical, optical and mechanical properties, charge carrier mobility, thermal conductivity, stiffness and thickening efficiency, is manufactured efficiently with high yield using polymer which is easy to wet-out, disperse and handle. The graphene platelets may also be formulated into inks and coatings to achieve desired thermal and electrical properties, is efficiently and economically manufactured. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A composition comprises graphene platelet, at least one aqueous or polar solvent, and a dispersant chosen from carboxyl containing interpolymers (i), derivatized polycarboxylate dispersant (ii), imide polymers of formula (I) comprising a polymer chain having at least one fused aromatic imide pendant group (iii), cycloaliphatic polyurethane resins (iv) which is derived from reacting a polyisocyanate comprising a diisocyanate of formula: O=C=N-R-N=C=O (II) with an active-hydrogen containing compound to form a urethane polymer or prepolymer, in which at least 60 wt.% polyisocyanate resin component as a cycloaliphatic isocyanate and active-hydrogen containing compound comprising poly(glycol adipate), alkylene oxide polyurethane polymers (v) comprising 35-90 wt.%, preferably at least 5 wt.% poly(2-4C alkylene oxide), which is incorporated in lateral chains are characterized as poly(2-4C alkylene oxide) chains with at least two groups, which react with isocyanates, which are located at the one end of the chain such that said chains are laterally arranged in relation to the polyurethane polymer back bone, water-dispersible or soluble dihydrocarbyl dithiophosphoric acid (vi) or its salt of formula (III), and a cationic or amphoteric homopolymer or copolymer (vii) containing at least one of dialkyl diallyl quaternary ammonium salt, alkyl quaternary ammonium methacrylamide, acrylic acid, and acrylamide. The polyurethane polymer has a number average molecular weight of 2000-50000 g/mol and contains 10-180 mequivalents of acid groups for each 100 g polyurethane when the polyurethane polymer containing 35-45 wt.% poly(alkylene oxide). When W' is more than NG, v is 2, and When W' is oxygen, sulfur, or more than NG, v is 1. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for production of composition, which involves blending a mixture of graphene platelets, at least one dispersant containing least one of the carboxyl-containing interpolymer, derivatized polycarboxylate dispersant, imide polymer, polyurethane resin and dihydrocarbyl dithiophosphoric acid, and water, and subjecting the blend to mechanical or chemical exfoliation.
