NOVELTY - Chiral separation of racemic mixtures, comprises: providing a column containing an enantioselective 2 or 3 dimensional graphene or graphitic material; and flowing a racemic mixture through the column such that first and second enantiomers in the racemic mixture encounter the enantioselective 2 or 3 dimensional graphene or graphite and are separated. USE - The method is useful for chiral separation of racemic mixtures. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: (1) an apparatus for chiral separation of racemic mixtures, comprising a column containing enantioselective 2 or 3 dimensional graphene or graphitic material; (2) an inorganic-organic hybrid material comprising a graphene, graphene-like or graphitic material comprising many surface defects, voids, or 3-dimensional architecture, where the material is populated with organic molecules; and (3) forming an inorganic-organic hybrid material comprising providing a graphene, graphene-like or graphitic material comprising many surface defects, voids, or 3-dimensional architecture, and populating the walls with organic molecules.
