NOVELTY - A polymer composite comprises graphene nanoparticles dispersed in a polymer comprising 50 wt.% or more rigid rod polymer repeating units. USE - Polymer composite is used for forming film and fiber used for article e.g. tire, vehicle armor, bullet-proof vest, body armor, ballistic protection system component, gas-barrier layer component of hull for airship (all claimed), machine belts, ceramic component, and aircraft component. ADVANTAGE - The polymer composite has high modulus, excellent strength, electrical property, thermal stability and radio-frequency and electromagnetic shielding properties, and improved elongation-to-break characteristics. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for preparation of composite, which involves polymerizing rigid rod monomer in presence of graphene nanoparticles.
