▎ 摘 要
NOVELTY - The method involves providing carbonate ions to an electrolytic cell (100) comprising a liquid metal cathode, an anode and a molten salt electrolyte in contact with the cathode and the anode. The ions are reduced at the liquid cathode to yield a carbon material, and the carbon material is removed from the cell by settling or floating by gravity or filtering. Metal cations in the electrolyte are reduced to yield some of the metal in the liquid. The cathode comprises a transition metal that promotes formation of carbon nanotubes or nanofibers at a surface of the liquid electrode. USE - Method for producing carbon material in an electrolytic cell. Uses include but are not limited to carbon nanotubes, nanofibers, aggregates, amorphous carbon, graphene and graphite. ADVANTAGE - The method enables providing separation of the carbon materials and metal oxides produced in the electrolytic cell by mechanical separation. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for an electrolytic cell. DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING(S) - The drawing shows a schematic view of an electrolytic cell. 100Electrolytic cell 102Metal cathode 104Anode 106Salt electrolyte
