NOVELTY - Composite material is based on epoxy resin functionalized with graphene oxide (GO) and reinforced with curaua fibers also functionalized with GO. The curaua fibers are immersed in suspension of GO in alcohol, and a compound of thermoset polymer functionalized with GO is manufactured and reinforced with curaua fibers functionalized with graphene oxide. USE - Composite material used in production of composite plate and used as layer in multilayer shielding of ballistic armor system for protection against firing of rifle with ammunition caliber of 7.62 mm or 5.56 mm and optimizing vests against level III-A threats to vests against level III threats (all claimed). ADVANTAGE - The composite material is used in production of plates with a thickness of up to 1cm and lateral dimensions of 15cm x 12cm in specified carbon steel molds, and the plate is demolded. The material is tough and economically advantageous for use in multi-layer ballistic armor for protection against high-velocity rifle fire, and makes it possible to replace much more expensive and denser synthetic materials currently used in the Armed Forces around the world, such as the aramid fiber fabrics commercially known as Kevlar. The composite material reveals the material's production process, as well as its importance and potential as applications in individual ballistic protection. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for a method for preparing composite material, involves: (A) using a rectangular metal mold having the dimensions of 1cm thick by 15 cm long and 12 cm wide, and a silicone grease release agent, applied on the inner surface of the mold; (B) accommodating FC/GO fibers, corresponding to the desired proportion of 30 vol.% within a suitable metal mold; (C) adding resin epoxy functionalized with GO, epoxy/GO, still fluid, mold closure with die cap; and (D) applying in the capped mold, already filled with curaua fibers functionalized with graphene oxide and epoxy/GO resin, with a compression load of 5 MPa at room temperature for period of 24 hours.
