NOVELTY - Neural electrode array comprises wires and at least one graphene electrode formed on a substrate. The substrate, electrodes and wires are all optically transparent. USE - Neural electrode array is useful for optical imaging and electrical sensing (claimed) for visual and electrical detection of neural activity. ADVANTAGE - The neural electrode array is transparent, flexible, and has high signal-to-noise ratio during recording of electrophysiological activity. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for method for simultaneous optical imaging and electrical sensing, which involves contacting a tissue with an electrode array, optically-imaging the tissue through the electrode array, and detecting an electrical signal from the tissue with the electrode array.
