NOVELTY - Graphene supported silica hybrid filler comprises graphene physically modified with a plant polyphenol and silica chemically modified with a silane coupling agent, where a mass ratio of the graphene to the silica is 1:1-1:150. USE - The filler is useful for preparing a high performance polymeric nanocomposite (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The filler: provides hydrogen bonding; has excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, simple preparation process, low cost and less pollution; and can be evenly dispersed in a polymer matrix, so as to significantly improve mechanical properties, electrical and thermal properties of a polymeric nanocomposite. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for: preparing the graphene supported silica hybrid filler comprising mixing an aqueous dispersion of the graphene physically modified with the plant polyphenol and a dispersion of the silica chemically modified with the silane coupling agent by an ultrasonic mixing or stirring, so that the silica chemically modified with the silane coupling agent is adsorbed to a surface of the graphene physically modified with the plant polyphenol through physical effects e.g. hydrogen bonding to obtain the graphene supported silica hybrid filler; and an application of the graphene supported silica hybrid filler can be dispersed in a polymer matrix by solution blending, emulsion blending or melt blending to prepare a high performance polymeric nanocomposite.
