NOVELTY - A composite (10) comprises a carbonaceous material (12), silicon structures (11) which are provided on the carbonaceous material, and a graphene layer which comprises graphene provided on the silicon structures. The silicon structure comprises silicon and silicon oxide (I) which is provided on a surface of silicon. USE - Composite is used in electrode used for lithium battery (all claimed). Can also be used in illuminant for display, thermoelectric device and biosensor. ADVANTAGE - The composite has high conductivity, excellent anchoring effect and adhesiveness, and provides batteries with improved lifespan and improved charging/discharging characteristics. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A composite comprises a carbonaceous material, silicon structures which are provided on the carbonaceous material, and a graphene layer which comprises graphene and is provided on the silicon structures. The silicon structure comprises silicon, and silicon oxide which is provided on a surface of the silicon. The silicon oxide is of formula: SiOx (I), where x is 0-2. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for preparation of composite, which involves providing the composition comprising silicon structures and a solvent on the carbonaceous material to form a coating, drying the coating to obtain a precursor structure comprising the carbonaceous material, and silicon structures coated on the carbonaceous material, contacting the precursor structure with a carbonaceous source gas, and heating carbonaceous source gas and the precursor structure to prepare the composite.
