NOVELTY - A catalyst comprises graphene oxide-containing compound (I). USE - Catalyst is used for alkylation of ortho-phenol for synthesis of o-methylphenol and o-ethylphenol. ADVANTAGE - The catalyst with catalytic activity of 64% or less, o-alkylphenol selectivity of 79% and excellent stability is prepared by economical method. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - A catalyst comprises graphene oxide-containing compound of formula (I). A=graphene oxide. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is included for preparation of catalyst, which involves adding graphene oxide to dry toluene such that the mass ratio of graphene and toluene is 1:20-1:50, ultrasonically dispersing mixture, adding 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane to reaction system such that the mass ratio of 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane and graphene oxide is 1:1-1:5, magnetically stirring mixture at 60-80 degrees C for 10-20 hours, centrifugally separating mixture, washing mixture with deionized water and drying washed product.
