NOVELTY - Cathode material comprises a source of sulfur, and a particle having a surface adapted to immobilize a polysulfide. USE - The cathode material is useful for lithium sulfur battery. ADVANTAGE - The cathode material ensures energy storage. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: a lithium sulfur battery comprising a cathode comprising the cathode material, an anode comprising a lithium source, and an electrolyte arranged between the cathode and anode; use of a particle in the cathode of a lithium sulfur battery, where the particle has a surface adapted to immobilize a polysulfide; and a method of reducing capacity fading of a lithium sulfur battery, where the battery comprises a cathode comprising a source of sulfur, an anode comprising a lithium source, and an electrolyte, involving adding a particle to the cathode, where the particle has an internal surface and an external surface, and the internal surface and/or external surface is functionalized with a sulfur-containing functional groups.
