NOVELTY - Graphene and liquid crystal display device includes a layer of graphene which is an alignment layer and an electrode for the liquid crystal device is prepared by providing a substrate, and depositing a layer of graphene on the substrate. A layer of liquid crystals are deposited on the layer of graphene. The graphene and liquid crystal device is heated, and then cooled the graphene and liquid crystal device. The layer of liquid crystals comprised liquid crystals in the isotropic phase before the step of heating the graphene and liquid crystal device, where the layer of liquid crystals comprised liquid crystals in the nematic phase after the step of cooling the graphene and liquid crystal device. USE - Graphene and liquid crystal display device manufacturing method. ADVANTAGE - The graphene and liquid crystal device has ability to minimize the number of layers in the device, simplify the fabrication process, have reduced optical path length and optimize the transmission. In certain architectures, such as a slab waveguide with an LC-cladding, additional layers of material introduce unwanted absorption and scattering losses over relatively long path lengths (cms), thereby significantly degrading throughput.
