NOVELTY - Vapor permeation device comprises a graphene oxide membrane, where the graphene oxide membrane is configured to separate a permeation stream comprising water from a feed vapor stream comprising water and an organic solvent, and the graphene oxide membrane has a separation factor of at least 100 and a water flux rate of at least 1000 g.m-2.hours-1. The graphene oxide membrane comprises permeation defects. The permeation defects comprise hydrophilic sites on edges of the permeation defects. The hydrophilic sites comprise molecules with hydrophilic functional groups. The graphene oxide membrane has a density of permeation defects less than 5%, preferably less than 1%. USE - As vapor permeation device. ADVANTAGE - The vapor permeation device has ease of fabrication, excellent mechanical strength, chemical stability, and flexibility, even for submicron-thick films.
