NOVELTY - Preparing silver/silver bromide/graphene oxide (GO) nanocomposite photocatalyst comprises taking ethylene glycol in a round bottom flask, adding polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), stirring, adding GO (prepared by adding graphite powder and potassium permanganate into concentrated sulfuric acid, stirring, heating, adding distilled water, placing in ice water bath, diluting, adding hydrogen peroxide solution, centrifuging, and drying the precipitate), stirring, adding silver nitrate ethylene glycol solution, cooling, centrifuging, washing and drying. USE - The photocatalyst is useful for degradation of rhodamine. ADVANTAGE - The catalyst has high stability. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Preparing silver/silver bromide/graphene oxide (GO) nanocomposite photocatalyst comprises (a) preparation of GO by adding 0.5 g graphite powder and 1.5 g potassium permanganate into 12 ml concentrated sulfuric acid containing round-bottomed flask, magnetically stirring under ice water bath for 4 hours, heating to 35 degrees C, stirring at constant temperature for 30 minutes, gradually adding 23 ml distilled water in a dropwise manner, heating to 98 degrees C, stirring for 15 minutes, transferring the mixture into an ice water bath, diluting with 70 ml distilled water, adding 10 ml hydrogen peroxide solution (30%), stirring for 30 minutes until the solution becomes yellow, centrifugally separating, washing the supernatant until the pH is 7 and drying the precipitate, and (b) taking 12 ml ethylene glycol into a round bottom flask, controlling initial reaction temperature to be 60-120 degrees C, stirring at constant temperature for 30 minutes, adding 54-150 mg polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and 100-160 mg cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), continuously stirring until completely dissolved, adding 3-10 mg GO, continuously stirring for 2 hours to from uniform GO solution to obtain suspension A, dissolving 80-150 mg silver nitrate in 1.5 ml ethylene glycol at room temperature to obtain solution B, adding solution B into suspension A under stirring state in a dropwise manner using a plastic dropper, stirring for 30 minutes, maintaining the temperature at 155 degrees C for 15 minutes, terminating the reaction, cooling to room temperature, centrifuging, washing and drying.
