USE - The insulation coating is useful for electrical conductor (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The method is useful for producing an insulation coating. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - Producing an insulation coating (1.1) for an electrical conductor (1) which comprises graphene and or carbon nanotubes and forms a carbon conductor, comprises (a) providing the carbon conductor, preferably as a fiber or as a composite of fibers, (b) providing a first reactant, preferably a monomer and/or an oligomer, in a first solution (2), (c) providing a second reactant, preferably a monomer and/or an oligomer, in a second solution (3), where the reactants of the first solution and the second solution together to form a polymer, preferably polyamide, polyurethane, polyurea, polyimide or polycarbonate, can react, where the first solution and the second solution are in particular immiscible, (d) bringing the surface of the carbon conductor into contact with the first solution, and creating a liquid layer consisting of the first solution on the surface of the carbon conductor, and (e) bringing the liquid layer of the carbon conductor having the first solution into contact with the second solution in such a way that the insulation coating is formed on the surface of the carbon conductor with reactive formation of the polymer. An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for electrical carbon conductor comprising graphene and/or carbon nanotubes with a polymer coating that is produced by interfacial polymerization and in particular has a layer thickness that is less than 15 micrometers, preferably less than 2 micrometers.
