NOVELTY - Cathode material comprises silicon-based particles and silicon-oxygen-carbon (SiOC) material present on the surface of the silicon-based particles, where the atomic ratio of silicon, oxygen, and carbon is 1:0.5-5:0.5-10, Dv50 of the cathode material is 2.5-10 mu m, and the SiOC is 0.1-20% of the mass of the cathode material. USE - The cathode material is useful in cathode pole piece of electrochemical device used in electronic device (all claimed) i.e. lithium ion battery. ADVANTAGE - The cathode material is capable of further improving the lithium ion battery cycle stability and reduces the lithium ion battery volume expansion. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for an electrochemical device comprising a anode pole piece, a cathode piece, and a diaphragm, the diaphragm is located between the anode pole piece and the cathode pole piece and electrolyte, where the anode piece is the cathode piece.
