NOVELTY - Melamine sponge-graphene oxide adsorbent material is claimed. The material structure is that graphene oxide is supported on the skeleton of the melamine sponge, and graphene oxide is filled in the pores of the melamine sponge. USE - The material: is useful for adsorption of organic dye (methylene blue) in wastewater; and for adsorption of metal cations (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The material: has hydrophilicity and excellent adsorption performance; excellent adsorption properties for metal cations including cupric ion, lead(2+) ion, cadmium ion; is easy to recycle, reusable, and highly absorbent. The method: has simple process, low cost, and high yield; is suitable for industrial production; solves the complicated operation process in the preparation of the graphene oxide composite material; and has need harsh conditions including high temperature and high pressure and expensive equipment. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for preparing melamine sponge-graphene oxide adsorbent material comprising (i) mixing concentrated sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid and flake graphite, and stirring, (ii) slowly adding potassium permanganate, constant temperature heating and stirring to obtain mixture A, (iii) lowering the temperature of the mixture A to room temperature, (iv) freezing the deionized water and hydrogen peroxide mixed solution into ice cubes, pouring the mixture A into ice cubes, and stirring uniformly to obtain mixture B, (v) centrifuging the mixture B, washing, and freeze-drying the centrifuge to obtain solid graphite oxide, ultrasonically dispersing in deionized water, and centrifuging the supernatant to obtain graphene oxide solution, and (vi) pre-treating melamine sponge, immersing in a graphene oxide solution for post-treatment to obtain final product.
