NOVELTY - Antibacterial/antiviral complex has a structure formed by layering a base material, a carbon material, and an antibacterial/antiviral agent. USE - The complex is useful in sanitary product, biomaterial, detergent, cosmetic, paint, resin, wood preservatives, cement admixture, water treatment agent, industrial water, paper pulp, plastic, textile, food additive, medical device, optical device, or electronic product. The biomaterial is useful for tissue regeneration or artificial teeth. The detergent is laundry detergent, softener, household detergent, dish detergent, and hard surface cleaner. The cosmetic is shampoo, rinse, lotion, milky lotion, cream, sunscreen, foundation, eye makeup product, and antiperspirant. The sanitary product is mask, eye patch, bandage, plaster or gauze. ADVANTAGE - The complex has strong interactions between antibacterial/antiviral agent and surface of base material, excellent antibacterial/antiviral properties, and excellent color tone. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: a method for applying an antibacterial and antiviral coating to a base material involves (i) forming a film of a carbon material on the base material, and (ii) combining antibacterial/antiviral agent with the carbon material on the base material; a method for producing an antibacterial/antiviral complex involves (i) forming a film of a carbon material on the base material, and (ii) combining antibacterial/antiviral agent with the carbon material on the base material; and an antibacterial/antiviral complex-producing set comprising a carbon material or a carbon material composition, and an antibacterial/antiviral agent or an antibacterial/antiviral agent composition.
